Being right on the Gulf of Mexico, there is certainly no shortage of fresh seafood lunch and dinner options in St. Pete Beach, Florida.  If you’re lucky enough to visit while in season, stone crab season runs from October 15 to May 15 and is a delectable treat available at most seafood restaurants locally.  Not into seafood?  Not to worry, there are always other options available at most restaurants, including vegetarian and gluten free.

Here are our top recommendations for seafood fare nearby to the Plaza Beach Resorts:

Crabby Bill’s:  Located directly on the beach, this casual dining spot has amazing views to go along with their tasty menu.  Visit Crabby Bill’s for dinner and a gorgeous sunset, or just grab a drink at their beachfront tiki bar.

Snappers Sea Grill:  Snappers offers many delicious dinner choices including shrimp, grouper, crab and more.  We highly recommend the potato puff pastry as a side!  They don’t accept reservations, but do try to make it for their early bird dinner from 4-5pm daily.

Dockside Dave’s Grill:  Well-known as a favorite spot for locals, Dockside Dave’s was voted “best grouper in the south” by Southern Living magazine.  The portions are hearty, and we suggest onion rings or waffle fries on the side.

Shells:  The Classic Seafood Pasta is one of the most popular dishes at Shells, which has recently made a return to St Pete Beach after a few year hiatus.  For a variety sampling, try their Wednesday $5 appetizer special.

Sea Critters Café:  Enjoy lunch or dinner on the dock right on the Boca Ciega Bay in Pass-a-Grille.  The Seafood Boil is not always on the menu, but you can ask for it and you will be glad you did.  The homemade key lime pie is a must try.  In the evening, feed the catfish that gather off the dock, which is a big hit for the little ones.

Madfish:  This is Snappers’ sister restaurant and is just as yummy.  The most interesting aspect is that the restaurant is a dining car that serves as a throwback to old diners the owners visited growing up in Chicago.  The seafood is always fresh and the desserts are magnificent.

Hurricane:  Located in quaint Pass-a-Grille, this spot has amazing views and is a perfect place to relax with dinner or a drink and watch the beautiful sunset.  One of their most popular menu items is Mom’s 1945 Crab Cake.

If you are looking to hook your own dinner, you can fish off our large piers and docks at the Bayview Plaza Waterfront Resort or the Bay Palms Waterfront Resort – Hotel and Marina on the Boca Ciega Bay.  Our onsite bbq grills are great to cook your fresh catch.  You can also dock your boat there and explore fishing out in the Gulf of Mexico.  Wherever you eat, finish off the day with a beautiful sunset at the Plaza Beach Hotel –Beachfront Resort.
